The anti-Daylight Savings argument has never been properly investigated.
Having daylight later in the day results in a hotter sleep time and increased use of air conditioningwould far exceed lighting power consumption savings in my opinion.
In summer the extra daylength comes about naturally anyway, and it would be more useful in winter.
