Is your child struggling to read or spell?

Dyslexia is a learning disability where an individual has difficulty processing language due to neurological differences which affect how the brain processes written and spoken language. This can make reading difficult by causing dysfunction with phonological processes like sound blending, discrimination or segmenting sounds. It also causes issues with word recognition and fluency.

Dyslexia is a common learning difference, estimated to affect about 10% of the population in Australia. It’s not about intelligence: many people with dyslexia are highly creative and capable! Some people find reading, spelling, or writing more challenging.

Dyslexia can show up in different ways: difficulty sounding out words, confusing similar-looking letters, slow reading, or trouble remembering written instructions. These challenges can affect confidence, especially in busy classrooms where students are expected to keep pace.

That’s where specialist tutoring makes a real difference. With structured, evidence-based support, students with dyslexia can learn effective reading and spelling strategies tailored to the way their brain works. Progress becomes visible and confidence grows alongside skills.

At Your Tutor Armidale, our qualified teachers provide one-on-one support that builds literacy foundations and helps every learner reach their full potential.

💙 This October, let’s spread understanding and support for students with dyslexia — because with the right help, every learner can thrive.
