Letter: Barnaby, it’s time to go.

Jack Arnold, Armidale

Article: Barnaby, it’s time to go

I refer to the above article by R K Crosby.

I support the finding ”Almost 60% said they do not want Joyce to change his mind and run again” which is hardly an endorsement of twelve (12) years of political inactivity on behalf of the voters.

During this period the New England electorate has stagnated economically and socially due mainly to the inactivity of the ”representative of the voters (?)”.  In 2013 his predecessor Tony Windsor INDEPENDENT achieved feral funding for upgrading the killer Bolivia Hill and the Scone By-Pass, now two completed projects benefiting both locals and through travellers.

The then aspiring candidate was reported as ”laughing” when the then COALition Opposition Leader struck out the achieved funding for the Tenterfield CBD By-Pass, an accident waiting to happen at any one of the three pedestrian crossings of the New England Highway.  Perhaps this was personal payback for Windsor supporting LABOR after the 2007 tied election?

Nothing achieved in twelve (12) years is hardly effective representation of ”the best interests of the voters”.  Still, the installation of a Telstra mobile telephone communications tower on a property owned by a billionaire ”fan” does come with an annual rental income.

Perhaps the announcement of his retirement at the next feral election has more to do with the changes in the NOtional$ New England Electoral Council, with the (shock!! horror!!) election of a ”woman” to the important position of Chairperson of the Tamworth Branch.   Is this an indication that the ladies of Tamworth are over the atrocious misogynist male behaviour of the ”boys know best” club??

REGIONAL INDEPENDENTS GET THINGS DONE FOR THEIR COMMUNITIES.

What do NOtional$ do??

    1. Neil Marr, Barnaby championed that along with his state LNP counterparts, gave funding for feasibility studies and route proposals. A route was chosen and the commencement of property buybacks began. Then the LNP lost power and the Labor government withdrew the funding. Labor doesn’t care about the bush.

      1. Darren Collier- neither side do which is why they export our coal and gas for bugger all taxes and Royalties.

For the amount of minerals this country exports we deserve much better infrastructure.

      2. Charlie Begg I do agree with that. Both sides haven’t been acting in our country’s best interests for decades. Both sides are sellouts.

  1. Jack Arnold with his usual cut and paste political diabtribe. Maybe next time Jack you may want to proof
    read what you wrote…”feral election”??

  2. Bolivia hill ???? Cmon, get it right. Labor got all planning and finances setand approved and work was underway for Bolivia hill pre 2013 election. Then Lnp win and BJ took all the credit. Get it right.

    1. Greg FerrisThat’s what this is saying. Contrasting with past independent wins like Bolivia Hill. Read it again.

  3. Letter from the farmers who he’s trying to help and has been for years and years, we are behind you mate! Stop this green dream in its tracks!

    1. Hayden Martin what’s he actually delivered for you though ? That’s the problem , all talk no action .

      1. Rich Anthony Results are a measurable outcome. Can somone inform me what he actually delivered to New England?

    1. Lauchlan Giddy he did get that post box on o’conner place zoop zoop zoop and it was done 🤔😉

    2. Lauchlan Giddy to be fair he complained that Armidale hasn’t grown at all . If only someone had a 12 year platform to do something about it …

    1. Rick Ellis most third world countries have better telecommunications than New England.
Glencoe has never had access to digital Television or Radio, another example of neglect from politicians !

  4. Barnaby’s main agenda in the New England was getting Gina what she wanted. She bankrolled him when he was parachuted him in and the media backed it with the return of the “local boy” because Tony Windsor was in Gina’s way

  5. Crawl back under your rock Jack. Barnaby was instrumental in gaining the funds for our Mt Lindsay highway upgrade. A major transport corridor between Warwick and Lismore. Straight through the Tenterfield shire. Also fund’s for the rest of the bitumen seal & bridge upgrades on the Mt Lindsay from Tenterfield to Legume. Completing some 80km of bitumen upgrade from gravel. The Mt Lindsay now bitumen from Tenterfield to Brisbane.

      1. Steve Cumberland well I live in his town and when he was supposed to be in quarantine in the UK he was spotted the next day down the street out the front of the post office in Walcha.

  6. There are sadly far too many National Party loyalists in the New England electorate who will look beyond their neanderthal understanding of politics to actually look at the hard evidence and realise that Barnaby, the world’s angriest tomato, is a dud. Unfortunately, their level of political engagement only goes as far as seeing the National Party logo and their heads go: “That’s my. That’s my. That’s my, that’s my team!”

  7. He would not be able to get anything done…we have a labour government in power not liberals not nationals has been for nearly 4 years now
